《法華經》被尊為「經中之王」，在佛法的弘揚上地位崇高，其大開大合的思想模式，尤其受到中國佛教的歡迎，是一部流傳普遍、影響深遠的重要經典。
釋迦牟尼佛因為聽了《法華經》，說了《法華經》，經過那麼長的時間受持、讀、誦《法華經》，所以最後成了佛。釋迦牟尼佛成佛的因緣很多，在他修行菩薩道的階段中，歷經那麼多佛的時代、佛的世界，以及親近聽聞過諸佛所說的法，最重要的還是《法華經》，他之所以能夠成佛，主要原因也是由於《法華經》。
本書除了以現代人通用的語文，將經典原文略予譯介之外，更重要的是將經義內涵引用到現實生活中來。法師認為，通過依經解經的原則還嫌含糊，應該探及佛陀的本懷，以本經理解本經，之後才會發現，本經對我們現實世界的今日社會，到底有多少用處。
比如相信眾生皆有佛性，眾所周知是基於《涅槃經》，其實在《法華經》中也可得到依據。又如歷劫成佛與立地成佛，看來有矛盾，可是就在《法華經》中並弘並傳。又如彌陀淨土與彌勒淨土，在中國佛教史上似乎各有弘傳的大師，卻在《法華經》中，先後出現；限制女性及讚揚女性，也並行不悖。人間淨土的思想、逆行菩薩的信仰，一切眾生的種種狀況，都有可能是諸佛菩薩化現說法的範例，其實都能在《法華經》中讀到。
尤其《法華經》善用譬喻、巧說故事、經文流暢，除了專門的佛學名相，亦是優美的文學作品，有散文有詩偈，讀來一點也不枯燥。凡此種種，都是非常有用且實用的佛法。

There are many reasons for Shakyamuni Buddha becoming a Buddha. During the stage of his practice of the bodhisattva path, he experienced so many times of Buddhas, the world of Buddhas, and the Dharma that has been closely heard by the Buddhas. The main reason for being able to become a Buddha is also due to the Lotus Sutra.
In addition to a brief translation of the classic original text in the language commonly used by modern people, the more important thing is to quote the connotation of the classics into real life. The master believes that the principle of interpreting the scriptures according to the scriptures is still vague. It is necessary to explore the Buddha’s original thoughts and understand the scriptures based on the scriptures. Only then will they discover how useful the scriptures are for our real world today.
