本書以二十世紀前半葉的中印關係為主軸，從不同角度回溯中印關係在二十世紀前半葉的發展。本書集結臺灣與印度優秀學者在此領域的研究成果，是第一本此類的書籍。書中所討論的議題涵蓋三大面向，包括（一）國際政治背景、（二）外交與軍事、（三）社會文化交流等。本書希望藉由彰顯其重要性及相關性，幫助讀者深入瞭解這個鉅變時代的背景與發展脈絡。
This book centers on the development of China-India relations in the first half of the 20th century, and aims to revisit this period of history from multi perspectives. It is a collection of papers contributed by eminent authors from Taiwan and India, and the first initiative of this kind. The issues discussed include: (I) the environment of international politics, (II) military and diplomacy, (III) social and cultural exchanges. By indentifying their significance and relevance, this book offers insights for readers and provided them with a greater understanding of this amazing time undergoing drastic changes.
